The beauty of aotearoa expressed in hand crafted new zealand greenstone

CHALLENGE
Ruth and Terry’s website needed to showcase their handcrafted greenstone jewelry in a way that reflected the fluid, organic nature of their work. The challenge was creating a space, that that truly captured the essence of their artistry and the meaningful beauty of pounamu.
It was also important to tell the story behind their unique process, highlighting their craftsmanship and deep connection with New Zealand.
The aim was to design a site that felt as personal and meaningful as the jewelry itself, inviting visitors to explore the story behind each piece.
SOLUTION
The website was designed to highlight the authenticity of Ruth and Terry’s work. With a clean, minimal layout, the images of their carved pieces took center stage, showcasing the unique details and textures of the greenstone.
The design also emphasized their creative process, capturing the fluid, organic approach to carving. Focused on user experience, the site is easy to navigate, keeping the products in the spotlight while allowing visitors to explore the story behind each piece and connect with Ruth and Terry in a meaningful way.

Ruth and Terry are passionate jade carvers whose work captures the spirit and beauty of New Zealand. Specializing in pendants, earrings, and touchstones, they craft each piece with respect for the natural flow and energy of the stone, allowing its unique character to shape their designs.
Vision based approach
Ruth and Terry’s approach to carving is shaped by years of experience and a deep respect for pounamu. Terry’s 25+ years of carving, combined with Ruth’s fluid, intuitive method, create a natural, organic process where the stone shapes itself.
We wanted the website to reflect this unique craftsmanship and their connection to New Zealand.
The website provides an authentic space where visitors can experience the artistry behind each piece.

Ruth describes her work as fluid and organic, letting each piece of pounamu guide her process.
"I hold the stone, work with its natural energy, and the shape just happens," she says.
Adjusting as the stone changes, she refines each piece until it feels right, crafting designs that invite a personal connection with those who touch them.
